Opening &Plenary

On September 20th, the opening ceremony and plenary of the 3rd Conference of the  International Science, Technology and Innovation Forum of Boao Forum for Asia were held grandly at the Zhuhai International Exhibition Center, in the Zhuhai Ballroom. Over 800 guests attended the conference. H.E. BAN Ki-moon, BFA Chairman of the Board, H.E. ZHOU Xiaochuan, Vice Chairman of the 12th CPPCC National Committee and Vice Chairman of the Board, H.E. HO Hau-wah, Vice Chairman of the 14th CPPCC National Committee and President of ISTIF, Surakiart SATHIRATHAI, Member of BFA Board of Directors and Former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand,ESKO AHO, Member of BFA Council of Advisors and Former Prime Minister of Finland, LI Jiachao, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Chen Yong, Party Secretary of Zhuhai, and other Chinese and foreign dignitaries attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. LI Baodong, Secretary-General of the Boao Forum for Asia, presided over the opening ceremony.

The plenary was moderated by the Executive Chairman of the Presidium, LEONG Vai Tac. Speakers at the plenary session included Sari Multala, Minister of Science and Culture of Finland; ZHANG Guangjun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China; LIU Hua, Director of the China Office of the World Intellectual Property Organization; Yasoja GUNASEKERA, Additional Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka;LUO Hui, Director General, Department of International Affairs (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Exchange Office) of CAST; and Dhaval SHAH, General Manager of Corporate Technology & Innovation of SABIC and a strategic partner of the Forum. Additionally, HU Baishan, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of vivo, as well as Dean of vivo Research Institute, another strategic partner of the Forum, also delivered a speech.

The representatives attending the conference generally believe that technological innovation is an important driving force for accelerating the development of human society and civilization. Promoting fair and just global governance in technology and engaging in open, inclusive, mutually beneficial international scientific and technological cooperation are crucial in addressing global issues and challenges such as climate change, public health, poverty, inequality, green transformation, and inclusive development. These efforts contribute to the prosperity and sustainable development of the world.
