Roundtable for Women: Women Power in Science, Technology and Innovation

As women's social status, cultural quality and consumption capacity continue to improve, "she power" is influencing the economy, culture, life and other areas. In the field of science and technology innovation, there are more and more outstanding women, contributing great wisdom and strength. The organizing committee of ISTIF has specially arranged the Roundtable for Women to promote the development and display of women in the field of science, technology and innovation, and to provide a platform for the outstanding female leading representatives of science, technology and innovation as well as the related industries to meet together, and to share the power of women in science, technology and innovation in the subtle and wise "She Language - She Wisdom".

On 10 November, the First Conference of International Science, Technology and Innovation Forum of Boao Forum for Asia held a Roundtable for Women “Women Power in Science, Technology and Innovation”, in which Former President, UN Women’s International Forum, LYU Hailin, acted as the moderator and delivered a speech. Firstly, LYU Hailin elaborated her views on the importance of science and technology innovation, and encouraged more women to play a role in the field of science and technology innovation. She said that in recent years, the state has intensively formulated a series of important strategies related to the development of science and technology innovation. Science and technology innovation is the first impetus to lead development. At present, China has made great progress in the development of science and technology innovation, but is still facing challenges such as uneven allocation of resources, weak basic research, insufficient leading scientific and technological talents, and the lack of an ecological environment to stimulate the drive for innovation. We should promote the spirit of scientists, strengthen the role of enterprises as the main body of innovation, strengthen the bonds between industry, academia and research, and vigorously cultivate scientific and technological talents.

LYU Hailin said that the role of women in science and technology innovation should not be underestimated. Among the world's most influential female scholars, the number of Chinese women ranks second in the world; among the national scientific researchers, female scientists have reached 30 percent of the total. In the future, it is believed that more and more female scientists will stand out and shine in important fields of science and technology innovation.

The Roundtable for Women invited outstanding female representatives from enterprises, research institutes and associations. Fang Saimei, Vice Chairwoman of Guangdong Women's Federation; Doranda Doo, Senior Vice President of iFLYTEK; Wang Jingrong, Associate Professor of the State Key Laboratory of Traditional Chinese Medicine Quality Research; and Liu Xiongying, President of the Overseas Investment Federation of the China Investment Association, delivered speeches on the theme of the conference. The delegates also had a lively discussion on the power of women in science and technology innovation, and unanimously expressed that in science and technology innovation, which is a top priority for national development, women should take responsibility and make contributions just as men do.
